The Marin Paradox: Liberalism and Racial Separation

In the 2016 presidential election, Marin County voters gave Donald Trump only 15.6% of their total ballots, the third lowest percentage of any county in California. Yet according to data compiled by Race Counts, Marin is also the most racially disparate county in the entire state.

Join Alex Schafran, Ph.D. via Zoom at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14 for a discussion of the contemporary and historical factors that have led to this racial divide. Alex is the author of The Road to Resegregation: Northern California and the Failure of Politics, published by the University of California Press in 2018. Raised in Marin, Alex recently returned to the Bay Area after a stint in the UK as a lecturer at the School of Geography at the University of Leeds.

Please RSVP to receive details on accessing this Sausalito Library event via Zoom.
