The Sausalito Library serves a central role in the community – it’s been called Sausalito’s “living room” – but can’t do so without the community’s help.

Here are some ways to get involved:

The Friends of the Sausalito Library

The Friends of the Sausalito Library support immediate needs and short-term projects through grants to the Library.  Programs and resources funded include the children's summer reading program, the Library's new lectern, and a projection system for Library events. The Friends also coordinate the volunteer program, which can be a fun way to get involved.

The Sausalito Library Foundation

Established in 2006, the Sausalito Library Foundation provides long-term support and financial stability for the Sausalito Public Library. Donations and bequests from the community are being continually developed to fund new technology, special programs, and capital improvements. The Foundation works to ensure the sustained excellence of our library as an essential community resource now and in the future.

The Library Board of Trustees

The Library Board of Trustees consists of five members appointed by the City Council in staggered three year terms. The Board's role is to review the administration of the library operations, make recommendations, and establish library policies. The Board serves as liaison between the library and the community and between the library and the City Council. The Board usually meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 4:00 PM. If you are interested in the future direction of the Library, you may wish to attend some meetings and perhaps apply to be appointed to the Board of Trustees.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Library Board of Trustees, please fill out this online application.
