Marin Master Gardener Series
Street Trees for Your Neighborhood
Thursday, November 1
7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers
Do you want trees in the sidewalk in front of your house? Are you willing to water the trees and make sure they survive while they get established in their new home? Do you have grass or open dirt between the sidewalk and the street and want to transform that space with a tree? In this special program, Sausalito resident and UC Master Gardener Fay Mark will talk about how to identify the type of tree appropriate for your urban setting, the process for partnering with the City, and the conditions necessary to ensure the long-term survival of the new trees. Fay helped organize a project on Johnson Street, where neighbors partnered with the City of Sausalito to plant eighteen Prunus cerasifera trees, a fruitless tree that is utility and view friendly with a maximum height of 15-20 feet.
This program is presented by the Sausalito Library and Sausalito Beautiful.
