It's 1977, and battles rage on Richardson's Bay over attempts to evict hundreds of houseboat dwellers, most of them young and rebellious, in the new novel Houseboat Wars by Charles Bush. Kirkus Reviews writes, "In this thriller, a houseboat community's legal case against developers culminates in murder.... The attorney protagonist getting caught up in more melodrama than lawyering makes for an unusual but convincing tale." Charles Bush is a former attorney whose clients ranged from residents of Sausalito houseboats to inmates on San Quentin Prison's Death Row. He was born in Kansas City, graduated from Harvard College and the University of Chicago Law School, and currently resides in San Francisco.
