Love in the Time of Chronic Illness
Thursday, October 17
7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers
When illness enters your lives, it has a profound impact on not just the patient and family caregiver separately, but on the connection between them. And that connection, that relationship, can be a source of support, or depletion, for the partners. Based on research for her book, Love in the Time of Chronic Illness: How to Fight the Sickness, Not Each Other, presenter Barbara Kivowitz, MSW, will describe the ways illness affects the patient/caregiver relationship and approaches they can use to strengthen the relationship resilience needed to cope with the challenges of illness. Barbara is a clinician, consultant, and author specializing in health care innovation. She works with health care systems nationally to help them shift to more relationship-based models of care.
