More than 120 concerned citizens attended the City's Love the Bay Day shoreline adaptation workshop at the Spinnaker Restaurant on Saturday, September 7.
Those in attendance had the opportunity to review and comment on 20 sequential poster boards explaining the challenges facing Sausalito from sea level rise and the adaptation strategies we could adopt in the future, such as seawalls, revetments, and floating structures.
The poster boards from the workshop are available for online review and can also be viewed in person through September 23 in the central hallway on the main floor of City Hall.
Whether or not you were able to attend the workshop, everyone who cares about the future of Sausalito's 2.5-mile waterfront is encouraged to take a brief online survey on shoreline adaptation.
In the survey, you'll be asked to share your thoughts on how to maintain and enhance Sausalito's character while protecting ourselves from inundation.
The results of the survey, comments from the September 7 workshop, and feedback from two additional workshops to be held in the coming months will help inform a draft shoreline adaptation plan that will be presented to the City Council in 2025.
Details on upcoming workshops and opportunities for public comment will appear in future editions of Currents.
Any questions about the planning process for shoreline adaptation can be directed to Resiliency and Sustainability Manager Catie Thow Garcia at cthowgarcia@sausalito.gov or (628) 288-9821.
