Have you lived in Sausalito for years? Or just moved and want to know more about how the city has evolved over time? Join the Sausalito Public Library and The Sausalito Project on Friday, January 10 at 6:30 p.m. for an evening of storytelling and nostalgia. Nicole Straight is the creator the The Sausalito Project, a community-based visual documentary project capturing the memories and stories from people who have called Sausalito home for decades. Nicole will discuss how she started the project, the importance of documenting oral histories, and her method for gathering stories. We will listen to select interviews from The Sausalito Project and talk about how long-time community members can get involved.
More about Nicole Straight: Nicole has always been deeply curious about people and their stories. In a previous chapter of her life, she was a chef and the founder of a successful cooking school, where she fostered community through the shared experience of food. Outside the kitchen, Nicole dedicated time to volunteering at a senior center in Connecticut, where she taught a weekly poker class, building meaningful connections with older adults. After returning to Sausalito, she became an active volunteer with Sausalito Village, an experience that inspired her to launch The Sausalito Project.
